Very special congratulations to Pip Penney who is to be awarded an MBE in the King's Birthday Honours List! The citation is for "services to church bell ringing and young people" with special mention for her pioneering role in the creation of the ART method which has since become the international standard for teaching bell handling.
She also led the highly successful "Kids Ring Out" program which taught many young ringers, some of whom are leading towers and training young ringers across South Wales today.
Helen Phillips, Association Chair said “Pip has changed the way people think about teaching ringing both locally and nationally, and continually challenged us to engage with young people to ensure that ringing will thrive into the future. As an Association we’re extremely proud that the significant impact she has made is being recognised in this way – many congratulations Pip – well deserved!”
Three cheers to Pip, from all the many ringers you have taught, inspired and filled with your infectious enthusiasm for bell ringing!
