Peter G Mayle RIP

We are very sorry to advise that Peter G Mayle of Llantwit Major passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday 29th September 2026.

Peter had been a long-standing Tower Captain at Llantwit Major, had organised the Association's Surprise/Minor Practices for a number of years and was an Honorary Life Member of the Association. He will be much-missed by all who knew him.

His funeral will be at 11:00am on Tuesday 20th October 2026 at Cardiff and Vale Crematorium.

Ringing CensusShape the Future of Bellringing: The 2026 Ringing Census

How many active bellringers are there today? Where are our active towers? Surprisingly, we currently lack a complete, data-driven answer to these questions.

To change this, the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers (CCCBR) is conducting the 2026 Ringing Census. Taking place during Census Week, 16–22 November 2026, this nationwide initiative aims to build the most comprehensive picture of bellringing for nearly 40 years.

    The Monmouth Branch publishes a quarterly Newsletter for its membership.

    A copy of each edition of the Newsletter is sent to each Branch tower via the notified tower correspondent. Email copies are also sent to those who've asked to receive them that way via the Mailing Lists.

Books by Andrew Giles

Andrew GilesLocal ringer and historian Andrew Giles has very kindly made available for free download two of his excellent publications about ringers and bells in our Association's area.

The books are in PDF format and Andrew would be delighted if you would take the opportunity to download and read them at your leisure in the hope that they will increase interest in ringing locally and, if read by non-ringers, inspire readers to get involved and try our fascinating and very sociable pastime.
